The Annual Henderson Chamber Legislative Review will be a follow-up to the Legislative Preview that was held in January this year.

The Chamber Government Affairs Committee put together a list of top five (5) issues of concern for our community and presented those to our legislators. They will have the opportunity to update us on legislative action on those concerns at our April 30 meeting.

State Legislators that have confirmed attendance are: Representative Rob Wiederstein, Representative Suzanne Mills, Senator Robby Mills, and Representative Jim Gooch.

Eric Gardner, Chamber Government Affairs Chair, will be the moderator for the event.

The new format, due to COVID-19, will be via web conference. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to ask questions with the CHAT feature on the software. Each legislator will have an opportunity to answer questions. In addition to the legislative updates, Mayor Steve Austin and County Judge Executive Brad Schneider will have an opportunity to provide community updates. The sponsors for the event are: Big Rivers Electric and Kenergy.

Below is the list of topics

1. Energy / Rural Broadband

2. I-69 Bridge

3. Education – Recruitment, Retention, Pension, Pre K-12 funding

4. Opioid/SUD

5. Hemp
