Henderson Chamber of Commerce Seeks New Event Coordinator

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join its team as an Event Coordinator. This dynamic role will be instrumental in advancing the Chamber’s mission to foster a vibrant business community in Henderson, Kentucky.

With nearly 500 members, the Henderson Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting economic growth, providing valuable business resources, and facilitating networking opportunities for local businesses. The Event Coordinator will play a key role in this mission by planning, organizing, and executing a diverse range of events that support and enhance the Chamber’s initiatives.

Reporting directly to the President of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, the Event Coordinator will oversee the planning and execution of the Chamber’s signature events, including those supported by the Agriculture, Membership, Government Affairs, Education/Workforce, and Downtown Henderson committees. Additional responsibilities include soliciting and securing sponsorships, managing sponsor deliverables, and collaborating closely with the Director of Marketing and Membership to effectively promote events.

Ideal candidates will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and prior event planning experience, preferably in a business environment. Non-profit experience is a plus. The role requires strong organizational and project management skills, the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.

TITLE: Event Coordinator

REPORTS TO: President of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Event Coordinator to join our team. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a variety of events that support the Chamber’s mission and goals. This role requires excellent organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing the Chamber’s signature events including downtown events from the Downtown Henderson Partnership committee. 
  • Assisting in soliciting, securing and growing sponsorships for each event. Manage sponsor deliverables. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Membership to market and promote events. 
  • Work with Agriculture, Membership, Government Affairs, Education/Workforce and Downtown committees to implement successful events and programs.
  • Assist in developing and managing budgets for each event. 
  • Oversee event registration processes and manage attendee databases. 
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and reports as needed to improve future events and inform stakeholders. 
  • Attendance and involvement in appropriate City of Henderson, Henderson County, and regional events, programs and organizations at the request of the Chamber President.
  • Promote Chamber memberships to prospective nonmembers by communicating Chamber benefits.
  • Assisting in the administrative day to day operations of the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Event planning experience, preferably within a business environment. 
  • Non-profit experience a plus. 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficient with utilizing social media in a professional setting
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
